choosing a wedding video style

your wedding video is one of the most important parts of retelling the story of your wedding day. your film should be the perfect fit for you, and your decision of who you choose to film your wedding should come from the heart. but whether you’re just beginning to look at the many options out there for wedding videos, or you’ve searched high and low and know exactly what you’re looking for, we’d like to give you our two cents on our wedding films, and what they mean to us. keep reading under the next video to get an idea!

what they mean to us

our wedding films are about telling stories. as storytellers we think that your wedding film should be about you, and what makes you special. our goal is to use our creativity and production knowledge to create the most cinematic film, that tells the story of who you are, what makes you special and different. check out our films below and let us know if you think we capture that!

styles of films

let’s take a look as some different styles of films. we’re the creative type and don’t like to put ourselves into boxes! Yeah we really don’t like boxes. that being said we do our best to try and communicate some style choices with our clients, to make sure you’re getting the type of film thats going to be the right fit for you. we know some people like to mix things up and some like to stick to the basics. we happen to be big rocky’ road fans here but if you’re into vanilla, that’s cool too. we have lots of friends that like vanilla, and would love to have one more.

the three main wedding video styles

we’re divided things up into 3 main styles of films: the linear style, the documentary style, and the non linear style. we promise it’s actually really simple!

the linear style

the first style is the linear style. in this edit, the video begins with the beginning of the day, and moves it’s way through the end of the day in a linear order. first shot you’ll see is of our bride and groom getting ready, and the last shot is of the end of the night. this is the most simple of the editing choices, and by most standard the most traditional approach. if traditional is your style, this might be your best bet.

the documentary style

the second style, and our favorite is the documentary style. we’ll usually start with a speech or with your personal vows. we’ll show you getting ready in the morning with your best friends, and move into the wedding day. we take our creative freedom to tell the best story we can tell, but promise to keep things simple and straightforward.

the non-linear style

the third style is the non linear style. this is where we really get to unleash our creativity and flex our storytelling muscles. we’ll jump around different parts of the day following motif’s and other important elements of the story. we love to make these non linear edits, and if you’re the adventurous type we think you’ll love them too.

engagement video examples

the way we see things, our engagement session films are love stories. we don’t mean cheesy romantic movies, but we mean the love story of what brings you two together with one another. we know you’re special and unique, and it’s the chemistry that you share together that we aim to capture in our love story films. so how do these work? we’ll spend the day together (or just a few hours if you’re the busy type!) doing what you normally do when you hang out together. for some couples this means walking around the beach, grabbing ice cream, or playing disc golf. for others it might mean finding an exciting recipeie, heading to the store, cooking together, and enjoying a beautiful meal with a glass of wine. whatever it is you do, we want to capture your story on film. whether you choose to share your love story film on Facebook, send as an email video invitation, or premier the film at your wedding reception, we think the love story film is an exciting addition to your wedding film package!
